Dr. Teresita C. Yu

Dr. Teresita C. Yu, M.D., M.S.O.M., L.Ac.

I was born and raised in a traditional Chinese family. My siblings and I grew up taking herbal teas brewed by our beloved grandmother, Loo She. During our childhood, my mother would take us to see a Chinese doctor/herbalist whenever we were ill. These visits were my earliest exposure to Oriental Medicine. My father however, believed in modern technology and encouraged me to be a doctor of Western Medicine.
I received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry prior to completing my medical degree at the Far Eastern University Institute of Medicine. I completed my specialty training in Pediatrics at the New York Medical College-Metropolitan Hospital Center and my subspecialty fellowship in Neonatal Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. I was in private practice for 17 years in the field of Neonatology before pursuing a Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture at the South Baylo University in Anaheim, California. I graduated last December and successfully passed the California Acupuncture board exam given March 7, 2006.

Jean Kim, M.S.O.M., L.Ac.

I was born in Seoul, Korea. My mother was my earliest inspiration to study the art of Chinese herbal medicine. My family grew up with herbal decoctions that she brewed for us. I attended the Ewha Women's University with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Education. I married and then raised two beautiful children who are now a successful lawyer and a councilor at the Van Nuys Regional Center. After my children left home, I decided to pursue a career in medicine to help the sick, especially those suffering from chronic maladies. It is this desire that gave me the impetus to complete a Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture at South Baylo University in Anaheim, California.
