healing powers. It is harvested at the foot of the snow-capped heavenly mountain of Tian Shan.

WHAT IS CHINESE MEDICINE?
Chinese Medicine is a living system of healing that spans over 3,000 years. For over a
billion Chinese, this has been the basis for their health care and maintenance. Because of its
proven effectiveness and safety, it is now recognized and practiced in countries throughout
the world.
The science of Chinese medicine involves thousands of years of observation of natural
phenomena in relation to the human condition and existence. Natural forces such as Wind,
Heat, Cold, Dryness or Dampness may affect the body’s balance and ability to maintain health.
Chinese Medicine views health as the appropriate flow of Qi (energy), blood and vital essence
in the human body. When the Qi and blood cannot travel freely within the meridians, (energetic
channels) of the body, there is pain. When there is an excess or a deficiency in any organ or
area of the body, this can cause imbalance. Chinese medicine can restore harmony to the
sysytem by promoting the smooth flow of Qi, reducing the excess, replenishing what is deficient and preserving what is vital.
There are Five main aspects of Traditional Chinese
Medicine:
• Acupuncture and Moxibustion
• Herbal Medicine
• Qi Gong-Energetic and breathing exercises which
cultivate the Qi of the organs and meridians
• Traditional Dietetics-Eating in harmony with the
season’s and one’s body constitution
• Tui-Na
WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?
Acupuncture involves the use of very fine sterile
disposable needles which are inserted into specific
points to inform and activate the self-healing
mechanism of the body. Once the needles are in
place, one may experience sensations of heaviness,
warmth, or a sense of energy flowing from the area
around the acupuncture points.
In addition to treating pain and illness directly,
acupuncture is also an excellent means of reducing
physical tension and emotional stress, thus allowing
the body an even greater capacity for healing to
take place.
WHAT ABOUT HERBAL MEDICINE?
Often we think of herbal medicine as bitter, bad-tasting tea. Nowadays, herbals can also be taken in pill, capsule, tablets, or powder form. Each patient receives a custom herbal formula tailored to their specific needs. Formulas generally consist of 4 to 15 herbs and can be modified weekly as one’s condition responds to treatment. Patent herbal pills are also available and widely prescribed.
Herbal remedies are often a vital component in the successful treatment of chronic and painful conditions as well acute illnesses. They are specifically useful in treating common colds, flu and other viral illnesses.
HOW LONG ARE TREATMENTS?
The number and frequency of treatments depends upon your specific condition, wether it is acute or chronic and your overall state of health and vitality. A course of treatment may be as simple as two visits, or it may involve a series of ten or more visits.
